Preparatory Studies at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥

Each college or university that offers health sciences technology programs has its own entrance requirements. To meet the entrance requirements at RRC Polytech, you must complete 27 credit hours of preparatory study, including the “Preparatory Requirements” outlined on page 2. You will also need to be prepared to take the RRC’s Casper Test which assesses applicants for non-academic attributes or people skills.

Note:  You must consult with the school where you plan to complete your studies to ensure you choose an appropriate set of courses, and that you will meet the entrance requirements for your health sciences technology program of choice.

Studies in Health Sciences

At the end of your preparatory studies at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥, you will apply for admission to a university or college program in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography-Ultrasound.

At least two more years of full time study are usually required to complete the diploma programs.

The following are University of Winnipeg Courses that satisfy entrance requirements for RRC Polytech Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Radiologic Technology and Ultrasound - Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 27 credit hours, including:

BIOL-1112 (6) Human Anatomy and Physiology with a minimum grade of 65% or “C+”

CLAS-2850/ KIN-2850 (3) The Classical Roots of Medical Terminology with a minimum grade of 65% or “C+”

PLUS:
18 credit hours of elective courses with minimum of 12 credit hours in Science

Note:  Students must have a minimum C+ in all courses (including electives and science requirement) to be considered for admission.

As part of the admission process, you will be required to take the . For students seeking admission for Fall 2025, the deadline to do this is April 8, 2025.

You must meet ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥’s general admission requirements. In addition, it is recommended that you have Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S or Applied Mathematics 40S and Chemistry 40S to register for certain university level Sciences courses.

What if I don’t have these high school courses? You can still pursue your pre-professional studies, but you might not be able to enroll in certain courses until you obtain the pre-requisites. There are two ways you can do this here:  take foundation courses at UWinnipeg that are equivalent to high school-level math and science (MATH-0041 & MATH-0042; CHEM-0100) or complete high school courses at The Collegiate.
