CHARACTER OF THIS CLASSIFICATION LEVEL

In positions at this entry level, incumbents complete circumscribed tasks according to detailed instructions. Incumbents exercise some independence in carrying out tasks, however, most duties are performed with detailed verbal/written instructions and/or established work routines with close supervision maintained over most facets of the work. The supervision of others is not required.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WHICH ARE INTENDED TO ILLUSTRATE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS CLASSIFICATION LEVEL AND SHOULD NOT BE INTERPRETED AS A DESCRIPTION OF ANY ONE INDIVIDUAL POSITION WITHIN THIS CLASSIFICATION LEVEL

  1. Performs entry level PC software and hardware setup, installation, configuration, testing, upgrading and/or repairing to PC systems.
  2. Uses diagnostic programs to determine basic repairs required
  3. Carries out repairs/replacements to PC components and systems
  4. Assists in parts testing and inventorying, general shop maintenance and upgrading technical documentation as required
  5. Performs other related duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

The minimum qualifications necessary for acceptable (satisfactory)  performance are:

Level of Formal Education

  • High school completion or its equivalent with related options and/or coursework

Experience

  • at least 2 years of directly related experience in relevant function(s)
  • or
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must have some working knowledge and understanding of microcomputer hardware, software and network environments

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess some computer systems operations and problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule and carry out work tasks while maintaining effective working relationships with others in a team environment

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to lift and move apparatus in excess of 15 kg.
  • Capable of performing the duties as assigned
